Providing good response comments is an opportunity to help both allow the learner to measure performance and provide substantive reinforcement to a proper or improper selection.
I have seen many corporate quizzes that provide rudimentary and worthless response reply. A missed opportunity for better ROI, user enrichment in course development for sure.
Although assessment question/answer response is not often given the importance that it is certainly due, it can be an effective learning asset to any training project.
Review some of the trainee choice selections that appear below.
Basic Reply Response Format Options
Text response... "Correct"
Extended Text Response "That's correct, also add a supporting statement.
Specialized Response can include;
- popup boxes with extended content of explanation
- persona or avatar icons as quiz comment response coaches
- video is more effective used as selection response in how-to scenarios studies prove.

It is not enough to give a right/wrong statement. Students need to know the how something works and why something is wrong or correct.

Better: Incorrect! The correct answer is B. A quiz can be utilized to reinforce content absorption. TRY AGAIN?

Poor: "Wrong Answer!"
Better: Incorrect! The correct answer is B. Quiz functionality has nothing to do with aesthetics. TRY AGAIN.

Poor: "Answer is B!"
Better: Incorrect! The correct answer is B. Done properly, quiz feedback is can become a valuable asset to content absorption. TRY AGAIN.
For the correct selection response,
Better: CORRECT. Always include extended explanations statements. Proper reply provides opportunity for reinforcement.
Summary:
It's not enough just to know how to use an off the shelf quick rapid development tool to create a quiz.
Quiz response reply can be utilized as a simple and effective technique to help motivate the learner. Properly administered, quiz feedback a provide value added element to the training. It is more or less an e-learning summative or what i refer to as iterative response approach giving the student every opportunity to clarify and learn as they proceed through the course.
